Over a fast river, there was a very narrow bridge. Only one animal could cross it at a time.
One morning, a goat started crossing from one side. At the same time, another goat started from the other side. They met in the middle.
'Move back! I came first!' said one. 'No! YOU move back!' said the other.
Neither goat moved. They pushed. They locked horns. They fought right there on the narrow bridge.
And then — splash! Both goats fell into the river. They swam out cold, wet, and ashamed.
The next day, two other goats met on the same bridge. But these two were wise. One quietly sat down, and the other gently stepped over him. Then both walked on happily.
The first pair lost everything by fighting. The second pair lost nothing by bending a little.
💛 What this story teaches
When nobody bends, everybody falls. Giving way first is a sign of wisdom.
