A big lion was sleeping under a tree. A little mouse was playing nearby. By mistake, the mouse ran over the lion's nose.
The lion woke up angry. He caught the mouse under his big paw. 'How dare you wake me!' he roared.
The mouse shook with fear. 'Please let me go,' he said. 'One day, I may help you.' The lion laughed loudly. 'You? Help me? You are so tiny!' But he was in a good mood, so he let the mouse go.
A few days later, hunters came to the forest. They caught the lion in a strong net of ropes. The lion pulled and roared, but he could not get out.
The little mouse heard the roar. He ran fast to the lion. 'Don't worry, my friend. Now it is my turn.'
The mouse bit the ropes with his sharp little teeth. He cut one rope, then another, then all of them. The lion was free!
The lion looked at the tiny mouse and said softly, 'I laughed at you that day. Today you saved my life. Thank you, little friend.'
