A hungry fox was walking through a garden. High above him, he saw juicy purple grapes hanging from a vine.
'Yummy! Those grapes look so sweet,' he said. He jumped up to grab them. He missed.
He walked back, ran fast, and jumped higher. Missed again. He jumped again and again, till his legs hurt.
The grapes were just too high. No jump was big enough.
At last the fox stopped. He looked up one more time, put his nose in the air, and said, 'Hmph! Those grapes are sour anyway. I don't want them!'
And he walked away — telling himself a lie to feel better.
When we cannot get something, it is easy to say it was never good. It is braver to say, 'I could not get it today. Maybe I need a new way, or more practice.'
