🪨 The Boulder on the Road

← Youth Stories

Long ago, a king did a quiet experiment. At night, he placed a huge rock in the middle of the main road. Under it, he hid a bag of gold coins. Then he hid nearby and watched.

Morning came. Rich traders passed by. They walked around the rock, saying, 'Someone should move this!' But none of them touched it.

Soldiers came. They also went around it. 'What a lazy kingdom,' they complained. Still, nobody moved the rock.

Everyone blamed the king, the roads, and each other. Blaming was easy. Doing was hard.

In the evening, a poor farmer came with a heavy load of vegetables. He saw the rock. He put his load down and said, 'If I leave it, someone may get hurt at night.'

He pushed. It was very heavy. He pushed again with full strength. Slowly, the rock rolled away.

Under it, he found the bag of gold, with a note from the king: 'This gold belongs to the one who moves the problem, not the ones who walk around it.'

💛 What this story teaches

Problems are hidden chances. The person who acts, instead of complaining, finds the gold.
